Swim 400 Meters – Swim 400 meters at Parksville Beach, Warm, Comfortable, Safe. Athletes who feel uncomfortable swimming can swim along the shore line in waist deep water. If you get nervous or tired you can just stand up and take a break, better yet you can just wait for the tide to go out and walk the swim portion of the event.
Bike 20 KM's – Bike 20 km's through the surrounding community of Parksville, take your time and enjoy the scenery. There are a couple of small hills, when you first leave the beach and then along the side roads of Parksville. Bike route maps will be available on line 10 days prior to the event. The bike course finishes in the same location from the start area by the beach.
Run 5 KM's – Run out and back through the surrounding neighborhood of Parksville, take your time, walk if you like and visit with the locals, remember to finish the event so you can pick up your official finishers medallion. The finish line is located near the transition zone where all the bikes will be secured while you are running and swimming.
Time Limit:
There is no time limit, take all day, we will be waiting for you at the finish line with medallion in hand.

Bike Racks and Transition Zone - The transition zone has special bike racks for you to place your bike while running and swimming and also is where you will leave your running and swimming gear while biking. Please leave room for at least 5 bikes per bike rack, this will make sense when you arrive. Only athletes and race officials are allowed in the transition zone during the event.
Event Cautions
Caution #1 - During the bike event you will be crossing through a major intersection at the start and at the end of the bike portion. Please use extreme caution while travelling this portion, it will be controlled by traffic monitors, however traffic does not always like to follow the instructions of the traffic controllers.
Caution #2 - During the bike event you will be travelling on quiet side roads with numerous driveways where motorists un-aware of the event may pull out in front of you. Please be respectful of their roads, as they are probably not used to hundreds of cyclist riding by their homes all at one time. You may stop and let them go, but please do not try and direct traffic, just because you are stopping and waving them to go, your friend who is trying to catch you may think you are throwing in the towel and taking a break or quitting, not realizing that you are waving a car right into the path of your friend or fellow cyclist.
Triathlon Parking
"courtesy to the local residents"
Please ensure that you park in designated parking areas. It is most courteous to leave parking spaces close to the beach and areas popular to the local residents for their use. You can always park a block or two away and ride your bike into the start/finish area. You can also drop your friends and gear off then go find a spot. Even though this is My First Triathlon and you won't be coming back for this event, you will be returning to do My Next Triathlon, so leaving a good impression with the locals is important.
