ATHLETES PERSPECTIVES
This event is exciting because is gives athletes the
chance to race on a relatively flat course for a personal
record. The bike course hugs the side of huge mountains
along the route provides excellent coverage from any
strong cross winds, common to flat courses.
The swim course is perfect
for spectators as they can walk along next to the
swim course and follow all the action. Athletes will
be sharing the course with the athletes competing
in the Bigfoot Full Iron Triathlon, Canusa Triathlon
Championship which will give them a feel for racing
in the full distance triathlon.Athletes will also
receive the benefits of having extra support on the
course; food water etc.

HISTORY
The Bigfoot Half Iron Triathlon had a humble beginning
back in 1988 as the Point Grey Triathlon where it
was held in Vancouver till 1990 after that it moved
to Lillooet, British Columbia for a year and was named
the Canadian Endurance Triathlon. It then moved to
Harrison Hot Springs and was named the Vancouver Half
Iron Triathlon Two years later it became the Bigfoot
Half Iron Triathlon a tribute to a big harry beast
which roams the mountains eluding capture and leaving
one perfect foot print every few hundred miles just
to through off potential captors.
EVENT CAUTIONS
Other than looking out for big harry beasts the Bigfoot
Half Iron is a safe venue. Although the course is
well monitored by professional traffic controllers
and marshals, athletes are sharing the road with vehicle
traffic. Even at a controlled intersections do not
assume that the traffic is following the instructions
of the controller or the marshal. Ensure that you
have your hands ready on the breaks at all times while
at intersections and corners.
